Adopt
Adoption Requirements
Due to the nature of our unique situation, we are in a position to perform rigorous screening processes. Because of this, we have several requirements.
Required:
stable income
if renting, written and signed approval from your landlord
vet appointment for an overall checkup set up prior to picking up your animal
will spay/neuter your dog. NO EXCEPTIONS.
one time non-refundable fee in the amount of $150 to purchase Embark breed/health test. We will send you a referral link that will provide a discount for this test. This does not need to be mailed to us, but you may send it to our PO box to have the test done as soon as possible. This will be considered a "deposit" for your puppy, and we will consider that puppy already adopted.
if adopting a high maintenance breed, we may use our discretion for selecting experienced vs. first time homes
Optional but increases chance of being selected for adoption:
dog training background (prior classes, dog trainer, etc.)
own your home
have a medium to large sized yard
have experience with the breed you are trying to adopt
Do not try to adopt if:
you are under the age of 18 and your family is not involved
you are living with roommates or a partner and they do not know you are adopting
you are adopting a dog as a present/surprise for someone else. All parties should be involved unless you are a parent surprising your family with a dog. No matter what, remember that dogs are not accessories and you are making a ~10-15 year commitment to a living being. If you feel that the person you are surprising will "get bored" of the animal when the fanfare is over, do not adopt.
At the end of the day, we have full discretion on our choice of adopter. When raising our puppies from birth, we know them better than anyone coming into the home to adopt. If we don't pick you, it may simply be because we thought that both the dog and you would be unhappy together. It isn't personal, and you can be considered for future adoptions. Please understand the situation we are in and have compassion for our difficult decisions. We all want one thing: happy dogs.
